The Truth About My Senior Photos: What I Wish I Knew

I had no idea what I was doing when it came to senior photos. My mom kept reminding me we needed to get them done, and eventually, she scheduled the session and told me the date. That was it. No advice, no guidance, no plan—just the date.

I had no clue what to wear or what would even look good. I started picking outfits I already had, but none of them felt special enough. So, of course, I went out and bought new outfits that were super trendy. Looking back, they definitely did not stand the test of time, haha.
I did my own hair and makeup, and as a senior, let’s just say I had no idea what I was doing. My hair was less than ideal and my makeup was… well, it happened. I didn’t speak with my photographer before the session, so I had no idea what to expect. I was also on my own when it came to picking locations. I felt stressed, clueless, and honestly, a little overwhelmed.
But here’s what I learned after working with a photographer who does it differently: senior photos don’t have to be stressful. They don’t have to feel like guessing games. With the right guidance, hair and makeup help, and someone who knows how to pose you, you can feel confident and actually enjoy the experience.

Now, when I think back, I wish I had known that a little planning and professional help could have made me feel calm, confident, and myself. While ,my session still was enjoyable, it was also stressful at the same time. Senior year only happens once, and those memories are worth more than trendy outfits or perfect selfies.
If you’re a senior feeling clueless like I was, don’t worry. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. With the right photographer guiding you, helping with hair, makeup, wardrobe, and posing, your senior photos can be a fun, confidence-boosting experience that actually captures you.
